Can you tell me more about your ADA rooms and accessibility?
Box Canyon Lodge & Hot Springs has one room that is accessible to those in wheelchairs. It has a king size bed. The room is large enough to move around in a wheelchair. The door jams are 35″ wide. The bathroom contains a seat and the toilet is high enough. The shower head height is adjustable. There is a ramp leading up the sidewalk to the room. Wheelchairs will need to negotiate a small door jam (less than 1/2 inch) when entering the ADA room or the lobby.
Our natural hot springs are not accessible to wheelchairs. People must negotiate 5 steps to the two lower tubs. There is no lift to help people from a wheel chair into the tubs. However, the Ouray Hot Springs pool has a lift that provides for easy access into the warm waters. The men’s and women’s locker rooms are both wheelchair accessible at the municipal hot springs.
Are your hot springs available to anyone?
Our hot springs are only available for our guests at this time.
Are your hot springs clothing optional?
We require swimsuits to be worn at our hot springs. If you are looking for a clothing optional experience, we recommend Orvis Hot Springs, a mere ten minutes north on US Highway 550 near the town of Ridgway.
What are your accepted methods of payment?
We accept Mastercard, Visa, and Discover. We do not accept personal checks unless you mail them to us at least ten days prior to your stay. Of course, we do accept cash, but we still need a credit card to guarantee the room and to cover any incidentals that may be charged to your room. We accept both Mastercard and Visa debit cards, but, there are some differences that can pose problems for some travelers if they use debit cards. We also accept Visa or Mastercard gift cards.
