Four-Wheeling/Jeeping

Ouray has earned the much-deserved reputation as the “Jeeping Capitol of the World”. Trails, rated from easy to difficult, traverse a variety of terrain, from extremely high mountain passes and rugged, winding roads to basin areas where waterfalls and spectacular wildflowers will absolutely take your breath away.

Four-wheeling enthusiasts come to test their machismo during the summer months. Fall, however, from mid-September through early-October, offers the same dramatic scenery highlighted by hillsides of aspen leaves looking as if they were dredged in gold.

Relaxing in the hot springs spas when you return from your adventure is the ultimate in luxury. As quoted in the San Antonio Light newspaper, “At the end of each day, the mineral hot water spring-fed hot tubs at the Box Canyon Lodge attracted the tired bones of our merry band of adventurers, where we would recount the spectacular sights and breathtaking vistas that we had experienced.”
