Natural Hot Springs
The Box Canyon Lodge & Hot Springs is one of only three properties that have hot springs on their premises. The hot springs here consists of four redwood spas terraced on the mountainside behind the lodge and are available for guests only. These hot springs spas are maintained at temperatures between 103 and 108 degrees and are open from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
In addition to the hot springs here, the City of Ouray offers a
250- by 150-foot public pool containing over a million gallons of
natural hot springs water. In addition to several soaking sections,
at a variety of temperatures ranging from 96 to 106 degrees, the
pool has a lap-swimming section, a diving area and a game area for
water volleyball. The crystal-clear water, free from the strong
smell of sulfur typical of many hot springs in other areas, makes
the hot springs at the Box Canyon Lodge and at the Ouray Hot Springs
Pool more enjoyable and extremely popular with visitors from around
the world.
