Halloween is on a Monday this year, which means the whole weekend before is dedicated to a scary good time in Ouray County!

Beginning Friday, October 28, 2016, the Ouray Elks brings us their annual haunted house. For years, the members and volunteers of the Ouray Elks Lodge have brought us chills and thrills in an historic venue sure to give you chills. Built in 1904, the Elks Lodge was and still is a magnificent example of Victorian style architecture in the west. The ransformation from meeting hall to haunted house is a sight to behold, and with the hard work of its members, the effect is indeed frightening, but not too scary for the little ones! The haunted house will be open all weekend, so there is time to explore as many time as you like!

After the little ones go to bed on Friday night, set the sitter up with some snacks and movies, then it’s time for the Time Warp at the Wright Opera House! The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a cult classic not so much because it is such an excellent example of fine film making, but because of audience participation. Dress up like your favorite character, and sing along with the live cast as they act out the movie. Between the corsets and camaraderie, Rocky Horror will have you smiling for days. This is an adult only event, and not one for those easily offended.

Saturday,  October 29, 2016 its time to dress up in your best costume and attend the Haunted Halloween Ball at the Beaumont! Ghosts and zombies, princesses and warriors compete for the best dressed, while dancing the night away! Costumes are required to attend this gala event, and the $10.00 cover charge is money well spent for a frightening good time!

Do you have your designated driver and a great costume? The Sherbino Theater in Ridgway presents the Durango Funk Allstars at their annual Halloween bash! Costume contests and dancing to the high energy funk that makes these performers so well received.

The weekend promises to be ine full of frightening fun for every ghoul and boy! And of course, a nice long soak in the mineral hot spring tubs at the Box Canyon Lodge & Hot Springs is the perfect way to relax before a night of ghostly fun in Ouray!
