Jeeping on Imogene Pass

The activities in Ouray vary from season to season but the choices are plentiful.  Ouray, and the surrounding San Juan Mountains, are an outdoor enthusiast’s paradise.  Ouray is known for its jeeping, hiking and ice climbing but there are also less physical activities to keep you busy.

Less Physical Activities In Ouray

However, you don’t have to be a sports junky to enjoy Ouray. For less physical activities there are an outstanding variety of shops and galleries; a very popular museum, a historical walking tour, mine tours, and several casual walking paths that are great for those who aren’t interested in the physical demands of our other outdoor activities.    We also have several terrific arts associations that offer many different programs.  Watch their websites for more information on events and classes:

Weehawken Creative Arts offers great classes year round in all art forms.

Ouray County Performing Arts Guild offers great performances, concerts, and salons throughout the year.

Ouray County Arts Association offers great exhibitions throughout the year including the Artist’s Alpine Holiday held annually in August.

Whatever your activity of interest, you don’t have to be exhausted when you return home from your vacation. At the Box Canyon Lodge & Hot Springs, relaxation and our guests’ peace-of-mind is our number one priority.
