Live Music, Great Food, Craft Beer, and Water Fun at the Ridgway Riverfest!
If you are going to be in the Ouray/Ridgway area on June 27th and looking for a family-friendly celebration that includes: river races, live music, local food/drink, kids’ activities, watershed educational & cultural programs, you may want to check out the Annual Ridgway River Festival. This fun and exciting festival will be held from 10am – 6pm at Rollans Park in Ridgway. Also don’t miss the Wild Water Films on Friday June 26th at 6pm at the Sherbino Theater.
River Fest will feature live music by, The Royal We, a local band based out of Ridgway, CO. The band plays a fun blend of Alternative music that all will enjoy. Be sure to bring the kids to the Kid’s Eddy & Watershed Education Tents to learn all about our watershed, do a scavenger hunt, get your face-pained, and munch on some delicious solar oven-baked cookies. The highlight of the day is bound to be the infamous “Junk of the Unc” race, in which boaters maneuver their craft which are constructed from scrap materials that are not normally intended for river travel. The race will travel through whitewater rapids and others’ junk, trying to keep it all intact for the 0.5 mile finish line. Check out the full schedule of events here.
The weekend of June 27-28th not only is the time for River Fest but is also time for Compassion Weekend. Now you may ask just what is Compassion Weekend? We the answer to that question would be, that volunteers from Ridgway and Ouray go out into the community to help their neighbors “do what needs to be done”. This is a wonderful event that helps those in need in our community, whether they be elderly or just don’t have the time or strength to do everything that they need to. This is a great way to not only help those in need but also to teach your children the joy of helping others. For more info call Susan Leverenz at 970-318-6677 or Donna Whiskeman at 970-729-0273.
We here at the Box Canyon Lodge & Hot Springs look forward to seeing your happy smiling faces at both of these great events. We can all have a bunch of fun and help those in the area that could really use some help and attention.!
