Experience Independence Day the Ouray Way!
Very few towns in the country can put on a celebration quite like Ouray.
From morning parades and barbecues on every corner, to games in the park and the biggest water fight EVER, the fireworks at the end of the day are just the icing on the cake!
We take the Fourth of July very seriously.
Fellin Park is bursting with activity all day. Games and races, picnics and live music fill the tiny box canyon that is Ouray with a variety of activities for the whole family.
Since the early 1900’s, Ouray has observed the Fourth of July with fun and often different ways.
Every year, all of Main Street is closed for a couple of hours, while teams battle with fire hoses. The streets are filled with onlookers. To watch the water fights, you cannot be faint of heart, or afraid of getting wet. Usually, the entire crowd gets drenched at least once when the losing team drops their hose and water sprays far and wide.
Long before the water fights though, there is a 10K and pancake breakfast, followed by a loud and raucous parade, and a variety of places for barbecues and rummage sales.
You definitely won’t be bored waiting for the fireworks as everyone enjoys live music and a laser show at dusk!
The schedule for the day is as follows:
