Last week was the first free concert in the park this year, and despite a little rain, it was a marvelous success!
Once the storm ended, those brave enough to wait out the downpour were rewarded with an amazing rainbow display, seeming to embrace the park and complement the awesome music as it echoed through our tiny box canyon. Jessica Hernandez and the Deltas followed the opening band iZCALLi, and the music, coupled with the beauty of the San Juans was supreme.
The next few weeks promise nothing less than a wonderful experience, although, I’m sure we all agree, it would be OK if there is no more rain.
On Thursday, June 8, 2017, Folk/Rock band the 14erswil start the evening at 6 pm, warming us all up for the funky disco beats of The Outer Vibe, as they finish the evening off with high energy music to dance the night away.
Thusday, June 15, 2017 be sure to have your spot on the grass by 6 pm to enjoy the up beat, sound of Woodshed Red, as they get the crowd ready to welcome The Roosevelts to the stage where they will fill the night with their own version of high energy American Rock.
Be sure to be ready to move on Thursday, June 22, 2017, because Tight Pump is going to get your blood pumping indeed, before Afrolicious takes the stage in an all out frenzy of energy and beats to make you move!
Never ones to dissappoint, The last Thursday in June, (June 29, 2017) will be one for the books! Opening band We Dream Dawn, will take you on a journey with their unique alternative folk sound, and The Grisley Hand will bring you full circle as they finish out the month of free concerts in Ouray.
BUT WAIT! There’s more!
On Monday, July 3, 2017, join the Ouray Volunteer Fire Department for a Fourth of July Fundraising kickoff at the park, featuring the fantastic local band Bad Friend! What a great way to get ready for all of the festivities of an old fashioned Independence day, while at the same time supporting our amazing volunteers!
July will see the free concerts move down to Ridgway, yet another beautiful spot for free outdoor fun, but the shows in the next weeks are a little bit of awesome in this already amazing place.
See you soon!
